Word of New Album

Flyer above is to remind Seattle Towners to get to the show tonight... you only have a few hours left!!! No doubt you'll be hearing stuff off the new album...

Seattle Journalist Eric Grandy was among a select few who were invited to listen to this upcoming collection (coming 31/5 on subpop) and he's penned a mouth-watering piece HERE which gives us some idea of the unrestricted hotness that is soon to be turned up. Global warming.

Stay close to Ishmaelites because our next post is going to hip you to a new track you can get your hands on right now. Something for us fans to sustain ourselves until May.

  2. Thanks for dropping by! I wonder if it'll be released as 2 mini albums, like last time. Also, I hope we get more patches, or something cool like that. Who knows what surprises lay in store? I feel like a kid on Christmas eve...

  3. I just love your site. I check it everyday. I remember some years ago there use to be a few Digable sites and even one cool Cherrywine site. But they either don't exist anymore or haven't been updated in years. I really appreciate a fellow follower of Ish. Yeah this is so exciting. SP is one of the few artists/groups I get all emotional over. Can't wait 'til May. :)

  4. That's good to know; thank you for your support Stacia!. I made the Digable Planets fan site back in 98 ('sector 6') on hotbot/geocites (yea remember them free websites!?) because I was too heartbroken they'd disappeared with no trace and people were seemingly unconcerned, and various other fan sites appeared after mine. Then in 2003 I made the Cherrywine fan site ('cherrywine cellar') which ran for a couple years. Now with the weblog format it's easier to do something like this. It's weird but back when the net was first created there were a lot mroe fan sites. Now I guess everyone wants to make a site about themselves. Not to belittle that, but we have to spread the word and pay respect to the masters when respect is due. Ish is my favourite artist by light years but if I had time I'd also make sites for Spectre the Ill Saint, Divine Styler, and Bill Laswell. A thought: if the internet hadn't been invented it'd be so much better since I'd be forced to print a fanzine...! a physical entity rather than this 'virtual' system. Maybe I still should do that. Anyway. You've obviously got good taste so make sure to hip me to any good new tunes you find!

  5. Wow, that was you! Should've known. :) I really loved the cherrywine celler site, and sector 6 as well. Small world. Those were sad times after Blowout Comb, and then to find out "Ish Since 1999" was not coming out was even worse. Anyway, you're doing an excellent job here with Ishmaelites. I've got some old pictures from rap magazines I can email you. Old Digable posters, Cherrywine promos, etc. And some other stuff I'll have to dig up. I'm sure you'd find a way to integrate them here. Peace!

  6. Merci beaucoup. Yes please do contribute in any way you feel. As for unreleased albums, I remember Ish told me in 05 that he'd recorded a second Cherrywine album called "little epic" which he described as "real minimal" but that also never saw the light of day... damn! I assume aspects of it were salvaged and renovated for the Palace.
